Review: Dell Credit Card

dell-credit-cardDell does not actually offer a physical credit card, but it offers financing through WebBank that acts just the same as a credit card. Dell calls this the .

The Dell Preferred Account allows you to buy Dell computers and electronics on credit and you often will find special financing offers such as “no interest for 6 months” or “no interest for 12 months” on your purchases when you use the Preferred Account. To buy on credit, you just place your order with Dell and select “Pay with Dell Preferred Account” when you check out.

There are two things in particular to note about this type of financing:

  1. The interest rate on your purchases will be 19.99% or 29.99% depending on your credit history, so if you have a balance on your card and you are out of the “no interest” period, it will cost you.
  2. The special no-interest offers come with the warning that if you don’t completely pay off your purchases within the 6-month or 12-month period offer, you will be charged interest from the purchase date — as if the no-interest period had never existed. So, don’t take the offer if you won’t be able to pay off the purchase in time.
