Catherines plus size clothing stores, in partnership with Comenity Bank, with a limited appeal in our opinion. See our complete review of the Catherines credit card below.
The first thing to know about the Catherines credit card is that it is only accepted at Catherines, nowhere else. This limited acceptance is a strike against it — opening new credit card lines cause a temporary hit to your credit rating. If you are opening a new account, it is better to do so on a card that can be used widely. This is especially true if your credit history is not solid.
If a short-term hit to your credit doesn’t bother you, is the Catherines card worth it? Meh. You do get some discount opportunities when you use the card, but there is no ongoing rewards program exclusive to the card. (Catherines does offer a separate Perks program that costs $25 but gives you 10% off all of your store purchases.)
Here’s what you do get:
> 20% off your first purchases with the card
> “Credit Bonus Days” throughout the year.
> “Bonus Coupon” during your birthday month
> “Additional Bonus Offers” in your billing statements
What it boils down to is that you will get some occasional discount opportunities, but what you are actually getting is so vague that it leaves us underwhelmed.
Now, let’s look at the Catherines credit card interest rate: 27.49%!!! That’s really high! If you ever carry a balance on this card, it’s going to essentially cancel out any discounts you’re getting on your purchases, so be very careful.
Overall, we can’t recommend the Catherines credit card. But if you’re determined to have it, you’ll find .
