Review: Chrysler Credit Card

chrysler-credit-cardThe Chrysler Group in partnership with First Bankcard, allowing you to earn reward points toward future Chrysler Group purchases as well as other potential rewards. Our overview / review of the Chrysler credit card is below:

The Chrysler MasterCard is accepted at Chrysler & Chrysler Group (Dodge, Jeep, Fiat) dealerships and anywhere else MasterCard is accepted. We like this wide acceptance — it makes the card more useful than many credit cards that can only be used at certain store chains or individual merchants.

The Chrysler credit card rewards program offers points toward Chrysler vehicle purchases (or Dodge, Jeep, Fiat) and parts, but you can also use your points toward other rewards including travel, gift cards, cash/statement credit, merchandise, or unique experiences. There is no maximum point allowance toward the purchase of a vehicle, so if you really rack up the points, you could get a nice discount. (Points expire after 7 years, though, so you can’t accumulate them forever.)

Points are earned in the following ways:

  • 3 points per dollar on card purchases made at Chrysler Group dealerships, including parts, repairs, maintenance and accessories.
  • 2 points per dollar on travel purchases.
  • 1 point per dollar on purchases everywhere else.

While we couldn’t find a definite formula for the value of these points, the credit card industry standard is for a point to equal a penny, and we assume that is the case with the Chrysler credit card, too.

The Chrysler MasterCard offers a 0% interest rate on purchases for the first 6 months you have it, then the rate becomes 16.99%. The 16.99% rate isn’t terrible for a rewards credit card.

All told, the Chrysler credit card would be worth carrying if you are a current Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Fiat owner who tends to buy parts and accessories at the dealer, because this is the fastest way to get points. If you aren’t an owner, you could earn more points with a another cash rebate credit card and use those toward buying a Chrysler Group vehicle.

That said, if you are interested in the Chrysler MasterCard you can apply via .
