Updated February 15, 2018 – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) offers a in partnership with First Bankcard that allows you to earn rewards toward future Jeep purchases as well as other potential rewards. Our overview / review of the Jeep credit card is below:
The Jeep DrivePlus Mastercard is accepted at Jeep dealerships and other FCA dealers, as well as anywhere else Mastercard is accepted. This wide acceptance makes it a more desirable card than cards that can only be used at certain store chains or specific merchants.
The Jeep credit card’s reward program offers you plenty of flexibility. You can use points toward Jeep vehicle purchases (as well as Chrysler, Dodge and Fiat) or Jeep parts or service, but you can also use your points toward a bunch of other rewards including travel and cash back. Also, there is no limit to the amount of points you can use toward the purchase of a vehicle, so if you really rack up the points, you could get a substantial discount. (However, note the fine print that says you can only redeem a maximum of $10,000 worth of points at one time. Still, that would be at least 500,000 points, which most people are unlikely to ever achieve.)
Now, how do you earn those points? You get:
- 5 points per dollar on card purchases made at Jeep & other FCA dealerships, including parts, repairs, maintenance and accessories.
- 2 points per dollar on gas and travel purchases.
- 1 point per dollar on purchases everywhere else.
The points you earn are “worth” 2 cents a piece when used at Jeep or other FCA dealerships toward purchases of vehicles or parts/service. If you choose to redeem your points in other ways, they are worth just a penny a piece. So, for example, 10,000 points redeemed at a dealership would be worth $200, but only $100 if redeemed for cash or travel.
The Jeep MasterCard has an interest rate of anywhere from 15.24% to 26.24%, depending on your credit history. The low end of the range is acceptable, but if you get a higher rate be sure to pay off your complete balance every month to avoid paying that high interest.
In our opinion, the Jeep credit card could be worth carrying if you already own a Jeep and tend to buy parts and accessories at Jeep dealerships, because this is the fastest way to accrue points. If you aren’t a Jeep owner, we see less of an upside — you could easily earn as many points with a different cash back credit card and use those toward buying a Jeep or have more flexibility to redeem them in other ways at a higher reward rate.
That said, if you are interested in the Jeep Mastercard you can apply via .
