Review: Z Gallerie Credit Card

z-gallerie-credit-cardFurniture and home decor retailer Z Gallerie, in partnership with Comenity Bank, that allows you to finance your purchases and earn rewards toward future purchases. Our review of the Z Gallerie credit card is below:

The first thing to note is that the Z Gallerie credit card is accepted only at Z Gallerie, nowhere else. This limited acceptance is a turnoff to us — do you really want to open a new credit line just for this one retail chain?

Maybe you do. One reason that you would is that the card offers special financing, often at a 0% interest rate, on larger purchases. These offers vary, but if you are considering a large purchase at Z Gallerie, they might offer you the credit card and give you a 0% interest rate on the purchase if you pay it off completely within the following 12 months. While this sounds good, note that these offers are usually deferred interest offers, meaning that you must pay off every penny within the agreed-upon period or you will pay all of the interest that would have accrued from the date of purchase at the card’s standard interest rate. And that rate: 24.99%! So, there is definitely some danger in taking them up on such an offer.

In addition to the special financing, the Z Gallerie credit card offers a rewards program. For every $500 you spend with the card, you’ll get a $25 rewards card toward a future Z Gallerie purchase. While this could be a nice perk if you are furnishing a space and make a large purchase, you also want to ask yourself if you’re really spending enough money at Z Gallerie to make the rewards worth the trouble.

As you can see, we are conflicted about this card. The special financing and rewards have the potential to be nice, but you can also get trapped into paying almost 25% interest on your purchases if you’re not careful.

We suggest you not make any decision about getting this card until you are actually ready to make a significant purchase at Z Gallerie, in order to see what type of 0% financing they offer you. However, if you just can’t wait, you do have the option to apply online with .
